Venus on Valentines Day

With Valentines Day looming, I felt maybe a blog on Venus, renowned for being the love planet, wouldn't be out of place.

Due to Venus being in between the Sun and Earth, it is only visible in the early evening, just after sunset, or early morning, just before sunrise. Looking like a bright and beautiful star.

Astrologically Venus is the natural ruler of Taurus and Libra, and is said to represent both money and relationships. As it is not possible to survive in life without either, it could be said that Venus represents what we need in order to survive. Whatever our views on money are, we need it. And no matter what our relationship status is, we need other people. Speaking more broadly Venus represents what we value in life.

Where it appears in a birth chart will give information about the person's values, how they approach both relationships and money, and depending on how it relates to other planets in the chart, where the challenges lie.

Due to the fact that Venus lies between the Sun and Earth, and astrology is from a geocentric perspective, Venus can never be more than two astrological signs away from the Sun.

On Valentines Day, the Sun is always in Aquarius, so Venus has to be in somewhere in one of the following, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces or Aries. These signs are quite different so how the Venusian energy is expressed will be correspondingly different.

This Valentines Day Venus is in Pisces. This is quite a romantic placement for Venus. Pisces being a water sign is emotional and intuitive. This gives some feeling and softness to the emotionally detached and objective Aquarian Sun.

Working well, Venus in Pisces is romantic, gentle, seeking a spiritual or higher connection with loved ones. Compassion and universal love are key. So are dreams. Dreaming is a Piscean past time, so with Venus here, shared dreams and ideals are sought.

There is always a downside, no planet or placement only gets the positive. Romantic dreams that are shared and can be realised are beautiful, but sometimes with this placement the dream is an illusion. Reality is excluded. And disappointment will come.

The extent to which this affects an individual will depend on their natal chart. If there are planets in the natal chart close to Venus, then this might be a dreamy Valentine's Day. If the birth chart is more Virgo, with planets opposite Venus, the dreaminess of Venus might be uncomfortable and might need to be balanced with more pragmatic tendency of Virgo.

For the rest of us, this is passing astro weather. It is a Valentines day to enjoy some dreams, but allow the Aquarian objectivity to prevent you from getting carried away. Venus in Pisces brings love into the Aquarian urge to consider the greater good. Whatever your relationship status Venus in Pisces is about universal love and compassion. We are all the one.
